The trip north included four stops, Del Norte Redwoods, Carl Washburn SP in Oregon, Humbug Mountain SP also in Oregon, and Albee Creek Campground in Humboldt Redwoods back in California.

The trip took ten nights with the final driving day home through very smokey condidtions

A very interesting thing at Carl Washburn was the condition of the beach. No agates could be found because the past winter storms had scoured the beach and revealed some 10,000 year old redwood roots. These trees were alive at the end of the last ice age. They had red colored wood and bark after all those years being buried under the sand and gravel.
